ISA Regional Football Tournament – Winners

St. John’s Senior School score 50 goals in one tournament to win ISA Regional Tournament!

St. John’s today hosted the ISA Regional Football Event as a precursor to the upcoming National Football event in October. The event featured six schools from the region, including:

The Kings School, Harpenden
St. James Senior Boys
Coopershall School
Knightsbridge School
Normanhurst School

Match 1: St. John’s made a spectacular debut in the tournament against Knightsbridge. They set the pace with a high-pressure game and composed finishing. The final score was an impressive 8-0 in favor of St. John’s.

Match 2: The second game against Normanhurst School echoed the dominance of the first. St. John’s maintained a high tempo from the outset, overwhelming their opponents. The final score was 7-0 in favor of St. John’s.

Match 3: The third match was a pinnacle of their performance. With every player contributing to the scoreline except the goalkeeper, St. John’s displayed a brilliant team effort. They secured a remarkable 18-0 victory against Coopershall.

Match 4: The fourth match showcased a similar display of exceptional attacking football and resolute defending. St. John’s outperformed St. James School with a final score of 8-0.

Match 5: In the final group stage match against The Kings School, Harpenden, St. John’s knew a draw would secure their spot as group winners. The Kings School was also unbeaten and had shown their mettle in the tournament. However, St. John’s superiority prevailed, resulting in a resounding 9-1 victory.

Semi Final: Heading into the semi-finals, St. John’s had already demonstrated their prowess by topping the group with over 50 goals and only two conceded. They faced Knightsbridge School once again, who attempted to slow down the game. Nevertheless, St. John’s attacking force proved too formidable, leading to an 11-0 victory and securing their place in the Cup Final.

St. John’s started the final with an intense pressing game from the first minute. The Kings School opted for a defensive strategy, trying to frustrate St. John’s. Despite testing moments, St. John’s capitalized on a counter-attack, taking a 1-0 lead. With The Kings School committing more players forward, St. John’s gained further control and secured a 5-1 victory, claiming the regional cup. They now eagerly anticipate the ESFA Elite Cup next Monday.
