In their second game of the group stage, St. John’s Senior School faced a robust team from Athens, Dionysos, who showed their determination right from the kickoff. Despite the physical challenge posed by Dionysos, St. John’s maintained composure and demonstrated their tactical discipline.
The breakthrough came with a moment of brilliance from Kydon, who made a clever blind-side run from the left wing. Che’s precise pass found Kydon, who calmly slotted the ball home to give St. John’s the lead.
St. John’s doubled their advantage from a set-piece. A well-delivered corner by Che was met with a superb header from Seb, making it 2-0 and putting the Greek side on the back foot. As Dionysos struggled to regain control, St. John’s capitalised on their momentum. Morakinyo showcased his skill by rounding the keeper and finishing with aplomb, extending the lead to 3-0.
The second half saw more dominance from St. John’s, with Morakinyo adding his second goal of the match, and the team’s fourth, solidifying their victory. The team’s disciplined performance and clinical finishing ensured a comfortable win.
With this result, St. John’s have topped their group and will now progress to the last 64 on Thursday.
