Both teams quickly established their prowess from the first whistle. Some sharp passing and dynamic movement from St John’s created numerous scoring opportunities, however, Headington proved to be resilient opponents and St John’s only had a narrow lead at the end of the first quarter. As the game progressed, the cohesion and teamwork of the St John’s girls became increasingly evident, with every player exerting themselves to propel the team forward. Our shooters displayed some impressive accuracy and this left our opponents struggling to keep up. Despite Headington’s efforts to stage a comeback in the final quarter, St John’s maintained their composure and secured their well deserved win to progress to the next round of the competition.
