St. John’s U14’s aim for second national title!
Ibstock Place School 0 – 1 St. John’s Senior School
St. John’s U14’s continued their tremendous national cup run with a robust 1-0 victory at Ibstock Place School.
In a cagey opening 15 minutes St. John’s seemed to struggle with the diamond midfield and high energy full backs that Ibstock School presented. however, no real threat developed in attempted shots or opportunities. Ibstock brought lots of their students out and parents who were loud and highly supportive of their team. It made a fantastic atmosphere but also a hostile one for us.
St. John’s made an early sub as we struggled to deal with the home sides energy, and it had an immediate effect. St. John’s grew into the game and started to create better chances. Firstly, Saurap drove to the edge, and his shot was finely tipped over the bar. The resulting corner caused mayhem, and Ethan had an attempt blocked on the line.
Leon curled an effort just wide before the break. Nicholas swapped wings with Leon, and he worked his magic on the touchline. Twisting and turning, he beat his player and put in a fantastic cross that was headed home by Saurap to put St. John’s 1-0 up.
The second half was tough, and Ibstock threw everyone and everything forward to try and get an equaliser. St. John’s, however, held out for a deserved win to book their place into the ESFA national Cup Semi Final.
